Pumps, floats & panels: bring the right details.

A matching connector or a similar horsepower label is not enough to confirm a replacement. Build the enquiry around the existing equipment and the system specification.

Updated · October 21, 2026How we prepare these guides
Use this to prepare your project. Property conditions and system requirements are confirmed by the responsible practitioner or authority.

Make an equipment record

Use existing manuals, invoices and safely visible external labels. Note the pump manufacturer and model, panel model, supply details shown in the documentation and the purpose of each part. Ask your service provider to obtain information that would require opening a panel or tank.

Effluent pump or sewage pump? Start with the specified duty

Bring the exact model and the service described in the existing documentation. Similar horsepower is not a replacement specification. Ask the installer to identify the required flow/head duty, the liquid being handled, electrical supply and discharge connection. A float used for an alarm can have a different role from a switch that controls a pump.

Compare the two owner-listed Myers references

Both entries below are listed as half-horsepower models in Christian’s catalog. That shared label does not establish matching performance. Use the exact model and manufacturer duty information for the installer’s selection.

Ask for compatibility to be checked

  • Pump: intended liquid, required duty, discharge connection and the model specified by your designer or service provider.
  • Float: whether it controls a pump or signals an alarm, plus the original model and required switching arrangement.
  • Panel: the equipment it operates, alarm functions and the exact replacement or repair specification.
  • System: which components are being retained, and whether the change affects the existing design.

Separate the purchase from the repair

Pay-N-Save can discuss product availability and your material list. Have the responsible installer or electrical professional confirm selection, wiring and commissioning. Keep alarms working; do not bypass a float or alarm to keep a failing system running.
